The L4931 is a low-dropout (LDO) regulator. This means that it has a dropout voltage of only 0.4 volts, which would mean you could use a 3 AA batteries at 4.5 volts and still have a solid, regulated 3.3 volt output. This also means that your regulator will stay much cooler ( if you use a lower input voltage), because the difference between input and output voltage is the voltage (or multiplied by the current, the power) that the regulator must dissipate as heat.
These regulators will fit the holes on both the RBBB & BBB regulators, just line up the flat edge with the thicker line on the board silkscreen.
These will not work with JeeNodes, the pin order is different.
